You know I am not a huge fan of the Blackberry 9000 Bold, but as a BB addict, I must confess that it grows in you. So many problems with it that in the end, if you are old school and grew up with Windows 2000 or Me, the random problems become a part of you.
Anyway, this afternoon I got the new Blackberry 8900 Curve, I think it also goes by the name of Javelin. At first, I thought of it as just an 8310 with a new fascia. Wrong, it is more than that.
If you have never had a BB before or you are trading up from a Pearl, you might be happy. But if you, like me, had one of the not-so-old Curve, this is just a bad remake.
They just washed its face, added a better camera (this time, it looks more dust-proof) and installed the new interface… but it seems they forgot upgrading the underlying system, and the thing is slow… like a Pentium II on Windows XP.
So, paraphrasing myself, do yourself an expansive favour, avoid the new BlackBerry 8900 Curve. It seems that the guys at RIM are getting lazier and lazier, and out of ideas, they put in the pipeline new editions of all friends.
To make matters worse, sliding out the memory card from the 8900 is even more difficult (if possible) than from the Bold. But the SIM card… that is something else. You cannot get it out of the 8900 unless you bend it, and if you bend it… pit-stop tomorrow at a Vodastore to get a replacement.
